Request a Campus Visit

For the spring of 2023, the Fulbright U.S. Student Outreach and Recruitment Team will be conducting most outreach virtually. We invite you to engage with us through Group Presentation Sessions (GPS), a reimagined approach to the traditional in-person campus visit.

GPS requests are submitted by an institution’s Fulbright Program Adviser (FPA).

What Fulbright Program Advisers Do

This is a general overview of the roles and responsibilities of an FPA.

Outreach and Recruitment

Promotion of the Fulbright U.S. Student Program on campus is essential for raising interest among students and recruiting for future application cycles. Promotion of the program can be done in many ways including:

  1. Informal get-togethers and workshops
  2. Fellowship fairs
  3. Press release of competition opening
  4. Fulbright brochures and posters
  5. Campus visits from IIE program staff or Fulbright Alumni Ambassadors
Advising Applicants

FPAs provide accurate information and guidance to prospective applicants. As students are only allowed to apply to one type of grant per application cycle, it may be necessary to help applicants narrow down which program will best fit their interests/skills/experiences. Applicants and FPAs should carefully go through country profiles and resources on the Fulbright website to assess eligibility.

The different types of awards are:

  1. Study/Research Awards (including Arts Awards)
  2. English Teaching Assistant Awards (ETA)
  3. Special Programs (i.e. Fulbright-Fogarty Fellowships in Public Health)
Campus Deadline and Review Process

New for 2025-2026 competition: Applicants can indicate that their application is “Ready for Campus Review”. Applications can no longer be unsubmitted.

FPAs create institutional deadlines and facilitate the campus review process to provide applicants feedback prior to the national deadline. All applicants must complete an application in the Fulbright Online Application System. FPAs will have login access to view in-progress applications as soon as an applicant has selected the institution they are applying through.

A campus interview and evaluation from a Campus Committee are also encouraged for applicants applying through an institution. This part of the application process is designed to provide constructive feedback to applicants about their proposal and insight to the National Screening Committee (NSC) about the candidate.

Managing the Fulbright Online Application System

New for 2025-2026 competition: Applicants can indicate that their application is “Ready for Campus Review”. Applications can no longer be unsubmitted.

The FPA oversees applications from their institution in the Fulbright Online Application System. There is only one login per institution. The institutional account is linked to the Primary FPA’s email address.

The application system allows FPAs to:

  1. View Fulbright applications that have been started, marked "redy for campus review", or submitted.
  2. Review applications and submitted forms.
  3. Communicate with applicants
  4. Upload Campus Committee Evaluation (CCE) form into each submitted application.
Updating Institution Page on Fulbright U.S. Student Program Website
FPAs should regularly update their institution page on the FPA website with campus deadlines, Fulbright events, FPA contact information, and any other information necessary for applicants to know as they go through the application process.
Celebrating Fulbright

We encourage FPAs to celebrate Fulbright success, whatever that means at the FPA’s institution. Celebrating Fulbright achievements also helps encourage other students to apply for the Fulbright U.S. Student Program in future cycles. Publicity tips and templates are available in the FPA Resources section.

Celebrating Fulbright can include:

  1. Hosting an “I Hit Submit” party for applicants
  2. Publicizing Finalists to the local press and media
  3. Sharing grantee stories on social media or with alumni publications
