Award Profile
One award is offered to pursue a one-year Masters in Classical Acting at the London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art (LAMDA).
The Fulbright John Wood LAMDA Award covers the one-year classical acting master’s degree offered by the institution.
John Wood CBE (1930-2011) was considered one of the greatest stage actors of the last century. His distinguished career included many performances with the Royal Shakespeare Company and at the National Theatre.
He won a Tony Award for his role in the Broadway production of Tom Stoppard’s Travesties and numerous other distinctions, including an Olivier Award nomination for the role of AE Houseman in Stoppard’s Invention of Love.
A world class drama school and educational charity, LAMDA delivers exceptional vocational training in the performing arts. Founded in 1861 as the London Academy of Music, it was the first such institution to offer acting tuition – defining LAMDA’s ongoing role as a pioneer in its field.
Challenging and intense, the MA in Classical Acting is for international actors who wish to develop their craft through an in-depth exploration of the classics. For those eligible to work in the USA, it culminates in industry showcases in Los Angeles and New York.
Applicants must submit their university applications as early as possible, ideally before December 15, 2022, in order to arrange for auditions. Successful semi-finalists will be required to audition for LAMDA in the US in January-February 2023.
Please note: this course is under review at the moment and applicants should expect changes to the course structure.
