2026-2027 Competition Deadline: Tuesday October 7, 2025 at 5 pm Eastern Time
United States citizens who are currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate degree programs are eligible to apply.If you are currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at a U.S. college or university, you will apply through that institution, even if you are not currently a resident there. Find the Fulbright Program Adviser on your campus.
If you are a U.S. citizen, will hold a bachelor’s degree by the award start date, and do not have a Ph.D. degree, then you are eligible to apply. Non-enrolled applicants should have relatively limited professional experience in the fields (typically 7 years or less) in which they are applying. Candidates with more experience should consider applying for the Fulbright Scholar Program.

The Fulbright U.S. Student Program welcomes applications in the creative and performing arts. Arts candidates for the U.S. Student Program should have relatively limited professional experience in the fields (typically 7 years or less) in which they are applying. Artists with more experience should consider applying for the Fulbright Scholar Program.
Creative & Performing Arts projects fall under the Study/Research grant category and are available in all countries where Study/Research grants are offered.
If you are a U.S. citizen and a professor or administrator at a U.S. institution and are interested in applying for a Fulbright Scholar Award, you will need to apply through fulbrightscholars.org.

The May 15 campus deadline listed above is the recommended date by which prospective applicants should contact their campus Fulbright Program Adviser/s (FPAs) to declare their interest in applying for the Fulbright U.S. Student Program (FUSP)—a requirement to receive application support. Potential applicants who declare their interest after May 15 will be supported only at the discretion of the relevant FPAs.

TXST UNDERGRADUATES & UNDERGRADUATE ALUMNI:
May 15, 2025: deadline for all undergraduate students and undergraduate alumni to complete the following steps to remain eligible for advising support:
September 12, 2025: campus deadline for complete applications. Undergraduate-level applicants, including alumni, who do not meet this deadline are still eligible to apply through Texas State but will NOT be invited to participate in the campus interview process.
September 15-19, 2025: Fulbright campus committee interviews (online)
October 3, 2025: submission deadline for final revised applications
TXST GRADUATE STUDENTS & GRADUATE ALUMNI:
All graduate students and graduate alumni must attend a virtual FUSP presentation hosted by The Graduate College’s FPAs—or watch a recorded presentation and pass a corresponding quiz—to be eligible to receive application support from The Graduate College, participate in the campus review process, and secure a campus committee evaluation from the graduate Fulbright Program Advisers.
May 15, 2025: recommended deadline for prospective applicants to submit a Declaration of Interest form in Canvas. FUSP presentation attendees will be automatically added to the TXST Canvas site for graduate-level Fulbright applicants.
August 3, 2025: campus deadline for complete applications. Graduate-level applicants, including alumni, who do not meet this deadline are still eligible to apply through Texas State but will NOT be invited to participate in the campus interview process.
