Current U.S. Student

United States citizens who are currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate degree programs are eligible to apply. All applicants enrolled in U.S institutions must apply through their home campuses. Find the Fulbright Program Adviser on your campus.

If you are an undergraduate student, you are eligible to apply in the fall of your senior year.  If you are a graduate student, you are eligible as long as you will not have a PhD degree by the application deadline.

U.S. Citizen but not a Student

If you are a U.S. citizen, hold a bachelor’s degree, and do not have a PhD degree, then you are eligible to apply. Non-enrolled applicants are encouraged to contact the Fulbright Program Adviser at their most recent alma mater to inquire if the institution can support alumni/ae through the application process. If not, non-enrolled applicants are welcome to apply at “at-large” candidates.

Non-enrolled applicant should have relatively limited professional experience in the fields (typically 7 years or less) in which they are applying. Candidates with more experience should consider applying for the Fulbright Scholar Program.

The Fulbright U.S. Student Program welcomes applications in the creative and performing arts. Arts candidates for the U.S. Student Program should have relatively limited professional experience in the fields (typically 7-years or less) in which they are applying. Artists with more experience should consider applying for the Fulbright Scholar Program.

Creative & Performing Arts projects fall under the Study/Research grant category and are available in all countries where Study/Research grants are offered.

Awards are available to pursue a full-time Master’s degree program in Brand and Fashion Management at Fu Jen Catholic University (FJCU). The program is taught in English.

FJCU is a comprehensive, pontifical university founded in 1925. Also, it is the oldest Catholic and Jesuit-affiliated university in the Chinese-speaking world. The university campus is of urban type and is located in the vicinity of Taipei. The university is quite famous as it ranks high in the top 5% of the best universities of the world and have many collaborative institutions and exchange programs with top universities worldwide.

The Brand and Fashion Management (BFM) Program is the very first Master’s Degree program of its kind in the greater China and Asia Pacific area. BFM brings in faculty from five colleges, together with adjunct professors who have profound industrial experience and distinctive accomplishments, to provide a comprehensive curriculum and strong industrial connections that are required to train the BFM students. With the resources from the University as well as industrial connections, the program is able to cultivate students with comprehensive and up-to-date academic training, empathy for the humanities and social care, value-added brand innovation, the integral practice of interdisciplinary and global perspectives through routine lectures, practical workshops, invited guest speeches, field trips, and internships as well.

The program is designed to cultivate interdisciplinary managers and future leaders from the dimensions of branding, JEV (Journey of Entrepreneurial Venturing), marketing, trends analysis and global fashion and management. Also, the internationally-focused program covers Marketing, Luxury Brand Management, Lifestyle and Fashion, and Innovation with a Sustainable Future.

The Center of Chinese Language and Culture at Fu Jen Catholic University provides 6 hours of free Chinese lessons every week to foreign students who are interested in learning the language. Furthermore, the Fu Jen campus is also well known for its globalized academic atmosphere with diverse culture brought by the international students from over 400 partner universities.

Grant Period

12 Months

Grants begin in September, 2021 prior to the FSE Welcome Reception (usually the Friday after Labor Day).

The Grant is initially awarded for 12 months, and renewal for the second year is dependent upon the grantee’s academic success with a minimum GPA of 3.0 (B) on a 4.0 scale.

Candidate Profile

Candidate must have received a Bachelor's degree prior to enrollment and intend to pursue a two-year Master's degree. Strong academic credentials in their area of specialization are expected. A good capacity for studying and living in a cross-cultural setting is necessary. Grantees cannot be accompanied by dependents.

A working knowledge of Mandarin or Taiwanese is useful, but not required. Mandarin study in Taiwan is highly encouraged.

No letter of affiliation is required upon application. Candidates must be accepted by both the Fulbright Commission in Taiwan and the university program.

YOU MUST ALSO BE ACCEPTED BY THE UNIVERSITY!! A separate application to the university is required. Applicants not only have to apply to the Fulbright award, but also MUST be accepted by the university. Please look up and respect the program application deadline at the university.

Once a Fulbright Finalist gains admission to a master’s degree program, a copy of the admission letter must be provided to the Commission.

Affiliation Fees/Tuition

The grant provides recipients with full tuition support, student dormitory, round trip airfare, a monthly living allowance, and national health insurance as long as the candidate maintains satisfactory academic standards. Tuition waivers for the number of credits required for graduation are granted to graduate students. Students may enroll for additional credits, but they will be responsible for the added tuition and fees.


Candidates currently residing in Taiwan (or those who will be living there during the 2020-2021 academic year) will not be considered.

Individuals with dual U.S.-Taiwan citizenship or permanent residency are not eligible.
