Established as an extension college of Christ Church, Oxford in 1892, the University of Reading received its Royal Charter to become a university in 1926. The University of Reading is now recognised as one of the top 200 Universities in the world, and is home to 17,000 students from over 150 countries.

We offer a wide range of programmes from the pure and applied sciences to languages, humanities, social sciences, business and arts. New research and the latest thinking continually feed into our teaching, with our academic staff working at the forefront of their fields of expertise, and we remain one of the most popular higher education choices in the UK.

The university has a strong reputation for multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary collaboration, particularly in the areas of climate and environmental sciences, food security and health. The University also hosts the largest collection of Samuel Beckett materials in the world.

The Whiteknights campus is also just a short walk or bus ride from the centre of Reading. The town lies at the heart of the Thames Valley and has one of the fastest-growing economies in England.
