Grant PeriodFall Start
One award is offered to pursue a one-year Master’s degree (or the first year of a Master's or doctoral degree program) in any discipline at Durham University.
Durham University is distinctive - a residential collegiate university with long traditions and modern values.
After the Dark Ages in Europe, the 7th century saw a flowering of thought and culture in the North East of England. Bede - poet, scientist, historian and the greatest European scholar of the 7th century - is buried in Durham, as is St Cuthbert, who established 'English' Christianity from its Celtic and Roman roots.
Durham University is the inheritor of a continuous line of learning and scholarship dating from Bede and Cuthbert to the present day.
Testimonial from Sasha Safanova, Durham Fulbright Scholar 2018-19:
“Devoting the first year of my postgraduate studies to research among cosmology's brightest minds at Durham is a true luxury. The Fulbright scholarship has enabled me to work on a project that will make an immediate contribution to one of the world's largest dark energy experiments. Fulbright's focus on research, combined with Durham's ground-breaking contributions to the international scientific community, create an unparalleled scholastic environment that can augment a PhD or a career outside of academia. Durham's system of residential colleges complements the academic excellence of its research. Being an active member of my college has helped me create lasting friendships with postgraduates in and outside the sciences.”
Sasha studied Physics at Durham (2018 – 19) and was based in The Ogden Centre for Fundamental Physics, a world-leading centre of excellence in fundamental physics research.
