Current U.S. Student

United States citizens who are currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate degree programs are eligible to apply. All applicants enrolled in U.S institutions must apply through their home campuses. Find the Fulbright Program Adviser on your campus.

If you are an undergraduate student, you are eligible to apply in the fall of your senior year.  If you are a graduate student, you are eligible as long as you will not have a PhD degree by the application deadline.

U.S. Citizen but not a Student

If you are a U.S. citizen, will hold a bachelor’s degree by the award start date, and do not have a Ph.D. degree, then you are eligible to apply. Non-enrolled applicants should have relatively limited professional experience in the fields (typically 7 years or less) in which they are applying. Candidates with more experience should consider applying for the Fulbright Scholar Program.

Artist

The Fulbright U.S. Student Program welcomes applications in the creative and performing arts. Arts candidates for the U.S. Student Program should have relatively limited professional experience in the fields (typically 7 years or less) in which they are applying. Artists with more experience should consider applying for the Fulbright Scholar Program.

Creative & Performing Arts projects fall under the Study/Research grant category and are available in all countries where Study/Research grants are offered.

U.S. Professor/Administrator

If you are a U.S. citizen and a professor or administrator at a U.S. institution and are interested in applying for a Fulbright Scholar Award, you will need to apply through fulbrightscholars.org.

Non U.S. Citizens

If you are a non-U.S. citizen interested in applying for a Fulbright Award to the United States, you will need to apply through the Fulbright Commission or U.S. Embassy in your home country. Find out more information on the Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program or Fulbright Foreign Student Program.

Institution Information

Campus Deadline: May 15, 2022

The campus deadline of May 15 is the date by which prospective applicants must contact their campus Fulbright Program Adviser/s. Campus submission deadlines are listed below by degree level.

Current TXST undergraduates & undergraduate alumni:

May 15, 2022: deadline to contact the undergraduate Fulbright Program Adviser

           All undergraduate students and undergraduate alumni applying through Texas State must work with Dr. Lisa Haegele, Undergraduate Fulbright Program Adviser, in order to participate in the campus interview process and receive a campus committee evaluation. Applicants who do not contact Dr. Haegele (haegele@txstate.edu) by May 15 may not be able to receive advising support services for their applications.  

September 16, 2022: campus deadline for complete applications 

September 19-23, 2022: Fulbright campus committee interviews 

October 7, 2022: submission deadline for final revised applications 

 

Current TXST graduate students & graduate alumni:  

All graduate students and graduate alumni must attend a FUSP presentation in April to be eligible to receive advising support services for their applications, including access to the graduate Fulbright Canvas course site and one-on-one advising meetings with the graduate Fulbright Program Advisers. 

May 15, 2022: deadline for prospective applicants to declare their interest in applying 

           All graduate students and graduate alumni must work with a Fulbright Program Adviser in The Graduate College in order to participate in the campus interview process and receive a campus committee evaluation. Graduate students who do not declare their interest by May 15 may not receive advising support services for their applications, including the Fulbright Canvas course site for graduate-level applicants.

August 5, 2022: campus deadline for complete applications  

August 22-26, 2022: Fulbright campus committee interviews (via Zoom) 

September 16, 2022: submission deadline for final revised applications
