Q: The information on the Bio Info is incorrect, but I can’t change it.
A: This information was taken from the application that you completed for the Fubright Program. If it is incorrect, please send an email to your IIE Program Manager, letting them know what is incorrect and give them the correct information.
Q: Where can I find my IIE Program Manager’s contact information?
A: Go to the U.S. Student Program Managers
Q. I am having difficulty getting access to the report site. What could be the problem?
A. This application is only supported by Internet Explorer 5.5 and above. See below for downdowning IE 5.5 from Microsoft. IIE cannot guarantee the results if other browsers are used. We suggest that you try to find a PC with Internet Explorer 5.5 or above, perhaps at an internet café or other facility and complete your Report there.
Q. I work on a Mac. Can I still access the Reports with my computer?
A. Microsoft has developed a version of IE 5.5 that can be downloaded onto a Mac. The instructions for this are below. Be aware, however, that the experience of some of our Mac users is that, even with a download of the IE 5.2.3.(the Mac version of IE 5.5), they are still unable to effectively access the Reports. It is a problem inherent in the design of the IE 5.2.3 and, therefore, we can not remedy it here. Unfortunately we, then, need to ask you to locate a computer that runs the IE 5.5, preferably a PC.
1. Access www.microsoft.com
2. Click Downloads from left hand side under Product Resources
3. PCs: Click or search "Internet Explorer 6 Server Pack 1"
OR:
Other platforms: Click Macintosh & Other Platforms from right hand corner for MAC user
OR:
Mac user only: Select and click right Internet Explorer version form Popular Downloads
Q. I saved my responses but when I went back to the page they had disappeared!
A. Two things may have happened. First, make sure that you clicked on the button at the bottom of the page labeled “Save and Continue.”’ Second, the “time out” period is 20 minutes. This means that the program shuts down in 20 minutes if you did not click on “Save and Continue” in the time frame. This occurs even when you are working on the page.
So be sure to “Save and Continue” on a regular basis. If you are working a particularly long response, you can always work on it offline and then just cut and paste it into the Report later.
Q. I clicked on “Submit Report” and it was successful. But now I want to make a change.
A. Contact you IIE Program Manager. If the Report has not been Released to the Commissions or Posts, then we can unsubmit it and send it back to you.
Q: What happens if I changed screens before saving my responses?
A: You must save the page before moving to another page; otherwise you will lose all information added since the last time you saved it.Be sure to click on “Save and Continue” on a regular basis .
Q: What happens if I type in more than the character limit?
A: The program will allow you to type in as much as you choose. However, because of space limitations, if you type in more that the character limit listed with each narrative question, you will not be able to save the page. Therefore, we recommend that if you have a lengthy response to any of these questions, you should first write it in a WORD document and conduct a character count including spaces. When you have the appropriate length, then you can cut and paste it into the on-line form.
Q: What if I have much more to say on a question than the space allows?
A. If you have more to say about a particular issue, than feel free to send an attachment to your IIE Program Manager. Be sure to put you name, host country and question on top of the page. Also indicate the type of report (i.e. Mid-Term Report or Final Report).
In the subject line of the email, indicate type of report/Addendum, your last name/first initial, host country” Example: Final Report/Addendum, DoeJ, Spain. Be sure to clearly label the document, FINAL REPORT, Part VII: Project Summary and to put your name, host country and Field of Study on the top of each page .
Q: My spending varies greatly from month-to-month, how should I note this on the question regarding my expenses?
A: Give us an average of your monthly cost of living (note we are asking for basic costs here.) However, if you have wildly varying costs, please give us an explanation in the box provided in question 2.
REMEMBER, WE ARE ASKING FOR US DOLLARS COSTS, SO DO YOUR BEST TO ESTIMATE EXCHANGE RATES.
Q: What if there are several secondary languages in my host country that I am studying?
A: Respond using the secondary language that you consider primary and in question 3. indicate the other language(s) that you are learning. If you wish, you may cut and past this page into a Word document, complete it for additional languages and send it to your IIE Program Manager. Be sure to put your name and host country at top of the page
Q: I can not save the report. When trying to save I receive the error "Server Error in '/' Application."
A: This is a browser issue. The application is only supported by Internet Explorer 5.5 and above. If you do not have this browser you need to upgrade or download it at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/. If using Internet Explorer 5.5 or above is not an option for you, please contact your IIE Program Manager.
Q: I am trying to submit my report, but it keeps coming back to me.
A: You must have not completed a required question. The program will tell you where the unanswered questions are as noted by a red asterix *. Since we require responses to all questions, even narrative questions, you must put something in text box.
Q: I forgot to save a page before going to the next page…what happened?
A: You lost your most recent entries and will have to return those fields. Remember to click “Save and Continue” on each page before moving to the next screen.
