South and Central Asia

The countries listed are those in which it is anticipated that grants will be available for the 2010-2011 academic year. If the country in which you are interested does not appear, please check with IIE before filing an application.


Fields of Study: Applications are welcome in all fields of study.

Language requirement: Varies by country. See Participating Country Summaries for information.

Research Clearance:
Applicants to India who are recommended for final review will need to submit research visa applications in January or February. See Country Summary.

Multi-Country proposals:
Not accepted for the South & Central Asia Region.

Grants not available to:
Afghanistan, Bhutan, Maldives, Pakistan, or Turkmenistan.

English Teaching Assistantships are available to Bangladesh, India, Nepal, and Sri Lanka.
