English Teaching Assistantship:
Available in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela. Language proficiency may be preferred or required. Applicants for English Teaching Assistantships can apply to only one country. Multi-country ETA projects will not be considered.

Grant period:
Varies for independent research. Grantees affiliating with academic institutions in Central and South America may be required to begin their grants in February/March to coincide with the academic year. ETA programs in Argentina, Brazil, and Uruguay begin in March 2011.

Multi-country proposals
(2 to 3 countries): All countries within the Western Hemisphere may be part of a multi-country proposal.

Unlisted Countries:
Applications may be considered on a case-by-case basis, but for dissertation research only.

Grants not available to: Bahamas, Belize, Cuba, Guyana, Haiti, Puerto Rico or Suriname.

Applicants interested in applying for grants to French Guiana, Guadeloupe or Martinique should apply through France.

Dependents: The basic amount of the Fulbright grant is increased by US$100 per month for grantees with one accompanying dependent and by US$200 for two or more accompanying dependents for countries in Central America, the Caribbean, Bolivia, Paraguay, and Venezuela.

The countries listed are those in which it is anticipated that grants will be available for the 2010-2011 academic year. If the country in which you are interested does not appear, please check with IIE before filing an application.
