8 FULBRIGHT FULL GRANTS

Language Knowledge of Tagalog is recommended but not required. Knowledge of the Cebuano language will be useful if research is conducted in the Visayas and Mindanao. Applicants without prior language skills should include plans for language study in their Fulbright proposals.

Grant duration
9 months, June through March, with a June or November start preferred.

Affiliation
Applicants must identify appropriate host institutions for their projects and must include affiliation letters with their Fulbright applications.

Specific program/country considerations
Restrictions apply to travel and/or research in Mindanao and some parts of the Philippines.

Special opportunities/venues for study
Fulbright Fellows will have opportunities to travel in-country when conducting their research. Fellows are advised to audit (not enroll in) courses relevant to their research projects as well as courses in Philippine history and culture in some Philippine schools. The Philippines provides rich research sites for historians, anthropologists, archaeologists, linguists, artists, and those in environmental studies, education, political science, and public health.
