Grant period 10-12 months (1 academic year). All grantees attend a 2-day cultural orientation program on arrival in September and the 5-day Fulbright Forum in January.
Affiliation These ‘open’ awards are tenable at any university in the UK (England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland). Applicants are encouraged to consider making an application to one of the UK universities with which the Commission has formed a partnership. The Fulbright partnership universities have been identified as centers of excellence in the UK (see below -- Additional Fulbright ‘Centres of Excellence’). More information about each of the Fulbright partnership universities may be found on the Commission’s website (www.fulbright.co.uk). The Commission does not place applicants, nor apply to universities on behalf of applicants. Applicants are responsible for arranging their own affiliations and for submitting their supporting documentation. Applicants may apply to more than one UK university. Proof of acceptance is not required before or during the application process, but awards are made conditional upon acceptance to the chosen university before arrival in the UK. Correspondence relating to the feasibility of the project may be included with the application. A short-list of applicants among those recommended by IIE will be invited to telephone interviews (typically mid-February), at which stage they should be able to give a clear indication of the rank order of UK university preferences.
UK University Partnership Awards If you wish to be considered for one of these awards (see list below for eligible UK universities), in the Fulbright Online Application, Page 1, Question 4. Special Programs, please select “UK University Partnership Award” from the dropdown menu. In your Statement of Grant Purpose, be sure to list the UK University Partnership Award and the UK partnership university to which you are applying. Also, list the UK partnership university in Question 34. Affiliation.
