There are three types of Fulbright grants to Malaysia.

4 FULBRIGHT FULL GRANTS

Language Malay language skills are encouraged but not required. Projects outside of Kuala Lumpur, Johor Baru, and Penang may require the study of local languages in addition to Bahasa Malaysia. Applicants without language skills should incorporate language study into their proposals.

Grant period
10 months, beginning in late May or early June.

Affiliation
It is recommended that applicants identify appropriate host institutions for their projects and that they include current affiliation letters with their Fulbright applications. Host institution affiliation arrangements will be finalized for candidates awarded grants by the Fulbright Commission in Malaysia.

Field of study restrictions
Sensitive topics may include certain aspects of environmental management, race relations, and religion, but well-thought-out projects in these fields will be considered.

Grant period
10 months, beginning with a mandatory orientation in January 2011.
