Grantee may pursue a taught Masters Program that builds on previous academic work or assists in future academic study at Dublin City University (DCU), which is a young, dynamic and ambitious university with a mission to transform lives and societies through its education, research and innovation. Situated on an 85 acre campus three miles north of Dublin's city center and 15-mins drive from Dublin airport, DCU delivers more than 120 programs to over 16,000 students each year. DCU's excellence in education and research is recognised internationally, and it is ranked among the top 50 young universities worldwide (QS Top 50 under 50, 2015).

Candidate Profile

The Commission is seeking applicants who:

  1. Possess excellence (academically, personally, professionally, creatively);
  2. Demonstrate leadership experience, attributes and, or potential;
  3. Outline a strong rationale for pursuing a degree at DCU that indicate how a Fulbright to Ireland fits into longer term goals;
  4. Demonstrate the benefit of becoming a Fulbrighter; to themselves (personally and professionally), to their discipline, to society, to Ireland, to the Fulbright Program / Commission and to the U.S. when they return;
  5. Extend themselves beyond their studies to become actively involved in Irish society and the work of the Fulbright Commission.  The Commission is keen to support projects that brings awardees into contact with a wide range of stakeholders, particularly outside of academia, to maximize their exchange experience and to raise awareness of the Fulbright Program in Ireland.

Additional Information: Applicants for the MA in Translation Studies must provide evidence that they have achieved level C1 or above on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages for their chosen language. Specific evidence of English language competence is required for all non-native-speakers of English.

Fluency in Irish is a requirement for applicants for postgraduate programmes where the language of instruction is Irish. These include the MSc i nGnó agus i dTeicneolaíocht an Eolais, the MA sa Ghaeilge (Sochaí agus Teanga), and the Taught MA in Humanities (Gaeilge). Applicants to these programs may be required to take a short Irish test prior to being offered a place.

Applicants will need to apply for admission to a taught Master's Program offered by one of the following 3 schools at Dublin City University as per DCU's admissions procedures. Applicants are not expected to have a letter of admission/affiliation at the time of application, but should indicate which DCU program to which they are applying in their applications. Final offers will be subject to admission by DCU.  The Fulbright Commission can assist with / advise on this process but applicants should make initial enquiries with DCU prior to contacting the Commission:

Affiliation Fees/Tuition

Dublin City University has agreed to waive tuition for Fulbright grantees enrolled on a taught Master's Program in one of the 3 schools identified above. For programs not specific to these 3 schools, or run collaboratively with internal or external partners, the Commission will explore a waiver for the successful grantee. If a waiver is not offered, the grantee is responsible for any tuition costs.

Candidates currently residing in the Republic of Ireland are not eligible to apply.
