STEPS IN THE APPLICATION PROCESS The steps below refer to the major steps in the preparing a Fulbright application. Review the section on PREPARING AN APPLICATION for further information on the following. - Instructions All applicants should print out and review the detailed Application Instructions on application procedure before beginning the Online Application.
- Request references, Foreign Language Evaluations (where appropriate), and transcripts from all post-secondary, credit granting institutions.
- Arrange the host country affiliation and obtain a letter indicating the affiliation’s support.
- Complete the Application Form Applicants must apply using the Online Application form and must submit it both electronically and in hard copy.
- Application Components Depending on your host country, Field of Study and/or Special Program, you may need to submit additional forms. Click on Application Checklist for a check list of the all the items that could comprise the application and make sure that you complete the ones that are required for the program/field of study/country for which you are applying. Begin collecting transcripts, references, and letters of affiliation NOW.
- Prepare Your Essays Study/Research applicants must submit a two-page Statement of Grant Purpose. ETA applicants must submit a one-page Statement of Grant Purpose. All applicants submit a one-page Personal Statement. These can be prepared as Word documents and uploaded into the application.
- Campus Committee Interview If you are applying through your home institution, your Fulbright Program Adviser (FPA) will arrange for a campus committee interview. It is your responsibility to submit your application to the FPA by the campus deadline in order to qualify for the campus interview. At-Large applicants will not be interviewed at this stage of the application process.
